As churches fill, roads get busier and families prepare to celebrate, the Zamfara State Police Command has moved swiftly to ensure that the Christmas and New Year celebrations pass without incident.
In a decisive show of readiness, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, psc+, has approved a comprehensive, state-wide security operation aimed at guaranteeing the safety of Christian faithful and the general public before, during and after the festive season.
From places of worship to motor parks, markets to entertainment centres, police personnel have been strategically deployed to all critical locations across the state. Major highways, as well as entry and exit points into and out of Zamfara, are now under reinforced surveillance to ensure the smooth and safe movement of travellers throughout the yuletide.
According to the Command, the operation is part of its broader commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining public order and promoting peaceful coexistence among residents, especially during a period known for increased human and vehicular traffic.
CP Maikaba assured residents of sustained, visible policing throughout the celebrations and beyond, stressing that the Command remains fully alert to any security threat. He called on citizens to remain law-abiding and to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would aid effective policing.
In a firm warning, the Police Command cautioned members of the public against the use of knockouts, bangers and firecrackers, noting that such items pose serious risks given the state’s fragile security situation.
