The Wife of Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Lawal, has commended the Federal Government’s Digital Literacy programme, saying it will boost national growth and development.
Lawal made the commendation at the commissioning of the Digital E-Learning Library held on Thursday in Gusau, one of the ten states selected to benefit from the project across the country under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA
She said the project was not just about technology and computers, but it is about empowering the youth, bridging the digital divide and opening new doors of knowledge and innovation to the people of Zamfara and beyond.
Adding that education remains the bedrock of development, pointing out that in today’s digital world, access to modern learning tools is no longer a luxury but a necessity.
She said through this E-library, students, teachers, researchers and the wider public will have access to the world of information, resources, and opportunities right at their fingertips.
According to her, the Renewed Hope Initiative, championed by our beloved mother of the nation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was driven by a vision to support education, innovation, and social development. This digital library reflects the vision and promise fulfilled.
“I therefore, commend the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), for executing this project with excellence.
I also deeply appreciate my dear husband, Governor Dauda Lawal and his entire administration for their commitment to improving education in Zamfara.”
In his remarks, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, urged people of Zamfara, particularly the students and educators, to make the best and most judicious use of the facility.
They should make it to serve as a powerful tool for learning, growth and the building of a brighter future for generations to come.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, said this project aligns with the vision of Governor Dauda Lawal, who declared a state of emergency on education upon assuming office. Since then, the sector has witnessed a major transformation, bringing back its lost glory.
The commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Maryam Shantali, said on behalf of the Ministry and people of Zamfara, “I’m expressing our deep gratitude to the Nigeria First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for including Zamfara in this noble initiative.
“We assure you that this facility will be put to maximum use for the benefit of our students, teachers, and researchers.
May this be the beginning of more fruitful collaborations aimed at transforming education in our dear state and the nation at large, ” she said.
