Zamfara Agile Strengthens Disability Inclusion

Zamfara State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE Project) has on Monday vowed to strengthen disability inclusion in the implementation of its project in Zamfara State.

The State Project Coordinator Hajiya Saadatu Abdu Gusau made the assertion during a meeting with Zamfara State leadership of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities(JONAPWD) in Gusau.

The Coordinator represented by the Deputy Project Coordinator Dr. Salisu Dalhatu says Zamfara AGILE Project commits to improving disability inclusion in the implementation of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment AGILE Project.

Saadatu Abdu Gusau assures bringing together all stakeholders from disability-focused NGOs, CSOs, Development Partners and government agencies to ensure workable strategies for improved inclusive, impressive and equitable project outcomes.

She says Zamfara AGILE Project is committed to identifying barriers to access for persons with special needs with a view to fostering collaboration with organisations that can support AGILE Project in bridging the identified gaps.

The Coordinator explains that the project plans to rehabilitate Schools for Special Education in the state as part of inclusive efforts towards ensuring better future for the girl child regardless of the disability status.

The Coordinator who appreciates the the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities(JONAPWD) urges for more support and prayers for the actualisation of Governor Dauda Lawal’s mission on the declaration of State of Emergency on Education for the sustainable development of Zamfara State.

Speaking earlier, the State Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities(JONAPWD) Dr. Bilyaminu Umar describes as unfortunate the experience of neglect and partiality which continues to make the life of people with needs more unpleasant.

Dr. Bilya who appreciates Zamfara AGILE Team for the warm welcome and the plans for inclusive and equitable implementation of the project promises support for effective implementation by engaging and enlightening members of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities in the state on the enrollment, re-enrollment, retention and completion of secondary school education.
