The Katsina State Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria YOWICAN, has partnered with the State Government to empower about 1,000 youths in the state.
Mr Praise Ilemona-Isaiah, the wing Chairman disclosed this in Katsina on Saturday at the inauguration of the exercise.
Represented by his deputy, Rose Bobai, Ilemona-Isaiah said the empowerment aimed towards making the youths self-reliant.
“My special thanks to Gov. Dikko Radda for his passion and support towards youth empowerment and development, regardless of race or religion.
“It gladdens my heart to say that he’s the major sponsor of this programme, and God will continue to bless him and his cabinet,” he said.
He commended the state’s Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Alhaji Aliyu Lawal and other key officials for the outstanding role played towards the success of the programme.
He also lauded the YOWICAN executive and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) leadership for the winning spirit that made the programme a reality today.
“Today, we gathered to empower ourselves with knowledge, skills, and mindset.
“This programme is a platform to unlock our potential, foster innovation, creativity, and shape our future.”
According to him, YOWICAN was able to empower youths in areas of Solar Installation, tailoring, catering, agriculture and ICT among others.
He also called on other well-wishers and philanthropists to support the initiative.
“Let’s harness our collective energy, creativity, and passion to drive positive change. Together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and our nation,” Ilemona-Isaiah said.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, represented by the ministry’s Director Youths Development, Alhaji Sani Yahaya, assured the association of government sustained support in the area of empowerment.
According to him, helping the youths is equivalent to building the nation, while neglecting them is a sign of destroying the nation.
Some of the beneficiaries commended the association and the state government for considering them worthy for such empowerment support.
