In a gesture that blended mentorship with strategic collaboration, the Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information and Culture Hon. Abdullahi Bego, has pledged his full support to the newly appointed Yobe State Focal Person on Drug Abuse Control, Saidu Hassan.
Saidu Hassan, who paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner in his office in Damaturu on Thursday, presented his letter of appointment and expressed his desire to work closely with the Ministry of Information to drive a comprehensive awareness campaign against drug abuse in the state.
The focal person described Hon. Bego as a respected leader and father figure, whose guidance and experience in public communication would be invaluable in his new role.
“This visit is not just for formalities. I came to inform you of my appointment, but more importantly, to seek your blessings and mentorship,” Mr. Hassan said.
“The fight against drug abuse is a heavy task, and I believe your leadership will help shape the path ahead sir.”
In response, Abdullahi Bego congratulated Saidu Hassan and praised his enthusiasm and dedication to youth-focused advocacy assuring him of the Ministry’s full backing in raising awareness and fostering public education around drug-related issues.
“You have my full support,” Bego stated.
“This is a critical assignment. Drug abuse is one of the silent challenges and we must tackle it head-on through sustained awareness, media engagement, and community involvement.
“The administration of governor Mai Mala Buni, always prioritizes youth empowerment, education, and health as key components of sustainable development, and the fight against drug abuse aligns squarely with these priorities respectively
