Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has directed road traffic agencies in the state to enforce strict compliance with traffic laws, especially during the festive season.
In a press statement by Mamman Mohammed the DG press and media affairs to the governor said, The governor issued this directive in response to a tragic road accident along the Bayari-Geidam federal highway, which claimed several lives.
In his condolence message, Governor Buni described the loss as devastating for both the families and the state.
He prayed for the repose of the deceased and strength for their loved ones to endure the irreparable loss.
Governor Buni called on the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Yobe Road Traffic Agency (YOROTA), and the Vehicle Inspection Department to ensure that only qualified drivers and roadworthy vehicles are allowed to operate on the state’s roads.
“The road traffic unions have significant roles to play, and we count on your cooperation to ensure the safety of motorists and passengers.
You must ensure that underage drivers, overloaded vehicles, and rickety automobiles are not allowed on the roads,” Buni emphasized.
The governor urged all traffic stakeholders to prioritize the safety of lives during and beyond the festive season, reiterating that strict adherence to traffic laws is essential for preventing further tragedies.
