Stakeholders across Yobe South Senatorial Zone have once again spoken with one voice, reaffirming their unflinching support and loyalty to Mai Mala Buni, Executive Governor of Yobe State, as they rolled out an impressive scorecard of developmental milestones recorded under his administration.
At a high-powered stakeholders’ meeting held in Damagum, political leaders, community influencers, and youth representatives praised Governor Buni’s purposeful leadership, describing Yobe South as one of the most transformed zones in the state’s recent history.
In a statement issued by Yusuf Ali, the focal person for Digital and Strategic Communication to the Governor, participants commended the administration’s unwavering focus on grassroots development, social inclusion, and sustainable growth, cutting across every critical sector of human development.
Stakeholders highlighted massive investments in healthcare delivery, noting the construction of modern Primary Health Care Centres in all 44 political wards of the zone. The transformation of General Hospital Potiskum into a Specialist Hospital was described as a game-changer, alongside the provision of modern medical equipment and drugs to General Hospitals in Fika, Fune, and Nangere Local Government Areas.
All 44 ward health centres, they added, have been fully equipped with contemporary facilities and essential medications, significantly improving access to quality healthcare for rural and urban dwellers alike.
On infrastructure, the meeting applauded the Governor’s aggressive road construction drive. Five-kilometre township roads have been completed in Fika, Nangere, and Fune Local Government Headquarters, while over 25 kilometres of roads now crisscross Potiskum metropolis.
Strategic inter-community roads—such as Danchuwa–Kolere–Jajere, Fika–Maluri, and Potiskum–Degubi—have also been delivered, boosting trade, mobility, and socio-economic integration across Yobe South.
Governor Buni’s administration, stakeholders noted, has placed education at the heart of development. Modern mega primary schools have been constructed in each Local Government Area, while classrooms, offices, and furniture have been provided to all primary and secondary schools across the 44 wards.
The upgrade of the College of Administration and Business Studies (CABS), Potiskum, into the College of Administration and Management Technology (CAMTECH) was cited as a landmark achievement. In addition, students have benefitted from foreign scholarships, while employment opportunities have been created for BSc, HND, ND, and NCE holders across the zone.
In housing development, stakeholders disclosed that 500 housing units have been constructed in Potiskum, with additional units delivered in Fika, Gadaka, Nangere, Damagum, and Ngelzarma—addressing housing deficits and providing affordable modern homes.
Economic empowerment initiatives include the construction of modern markets in Potiskum and Ngalda, a modern trailer park and motor parks in Potiskum and Jajere, as well as a shopping complex in Jajere. The establishment of a sesame cleaning and processing factory, alongside the revival of aluminium and flour milling companies in Potiskum, has reinvigorated local commerce and job creation.
Communities in Yobe South now enjoy improved electricity through rural electrification projects and solar-powered streetlights, while solar-powered boreholes have enhanced access to clean water. Farmers, stakeholders added, have been empowered with modern farming tools, boosting productivity during both dry and rainy seasons.
The stakeholders concluded that these achievements reflect Governor Buni’s deep commitment to equitable development and inclusive governance. Yobe South, they declared, has witnessed unprecedented progress in infrastructure, human capital, and socio-economic opportunities.
As the meeting ended, one message stood out clearly: Yobe South Senatorial Zone remains solidly behind Governor Mai Mala Buni—hailing him as a unifier, reformer, and the architect of a modern, resilient Yobe State.
