The Yobe State Government has announced a major relief intervention following this year’s reduced harvest, approving the release of 50,000 bags of post-harvest grains to support households across the state.
In a decisive move reflecting his administration’s commitment to food security, His Excellency Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, Executive Governor of Yobe State, gave the green light for the large-scale distribution aimed at cushioning the hardship faced by communities after a challenging farming season.
According to government officials, the grains—drawn from strategic reserves—will be distributed to vulnerable families in all 17 local government areas. The gesture is expected to significantly ease food pressure as farmers recover from the impact of erratic rainfall and lower yield recorded this year.
Governor Buni reaffirmed that his administration will “continue to stand with the people at all times, especially in difficult moments,” stressing that the welfare of citizens remains at the heart of government policy.
Community leaders across the state have welcomed the intervention, describing it as timely and reassuring amid rising concerns about food availability.
