Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, has outlined a bold strategy to harness the state’s rich resources for employment generation and wealth creation. Speaking during a courtesy visit by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Nigeria, Ms. Elsie Attafuah, Governor Buni emphasized that Yobe is poised to become an investment hub in agriculture, livestock, and natural resources.
“With improved security, we are shifting focus to unlocking Yobe’s immense potentials,” the Governor stated. He highlighted the state’s status as a leading producer of sesame seeds and livestock, aiming to position Yobe as an international export hub.
Governor Buni also noted that the administration had prioritized resettlement and recovery for displaced communities, with significant financial investments in infrastructure to drive economic growth and curb rural-urban migration.
Yobe’s new functional airport, he said, is a game-changer, making the state more accessible to development partners. Ms. Attafuah commended the state’s progress and pledged UNDP’s support in exploring investment opportunities to enhance development.
Yobe is on the rise, leveraging its resources for a brighter future.
