Yobe state government under Gov. Mai Mala Buni has consolidated the achievements of successive administrations and implemented accountable financial framework to ensure value of money through transparent engagements.
The Secretary to the State Government,
Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, told the newsmen on Monday part of the effort to provide insights of Gov. Mai Mala Buni six year administration in the state.
Wali said ensure adequate manpower training and intensified efforts to increase internally generated revenue collection and strengthened the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
He explained that the reforms and new approaches adopted enable the state government to minimize leakages in the execution of government businesses and record landmark achievements in the implementation of policies.
” We implemented Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), State Fiscal, Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) and the Electronic Government Procurement System (e-GP).
” The systems have fetched government commendation of the Federal Ministry of Finance and the World Bank.
” For the successes, World Bank had awarded us a grant of 5 million dollars due to our reforms which are in tandem with World best practices in procurement, Annual Auditor General’s Report and other fiscal reforms, ” Wali said.
According to him, other achievements in this sector included the employment of 6,449 civil servants, payment of gratuity to the tune of N15.4 billion, various workers training within and outside the country culminating in about 35 trainings conducted with total number of 6,395 beneficiaries.
He said state ministry of finance being the overseer of government financial assets transparency facilitated the present administration, remarkable achievements were made due to Buni.
He highlighted that remarkable achievements worth mentioning included prompt monthly Payment of Salary and Pension Allowance Pensioners who were enrolled into State payroll immediately after retirement.
” To enhance Public Finance Management (PFM), the state government has approved the ongoing implementation of biometrics verification for all new employees prior to their inclusion on the state payroll.
” In our quest to provide a conducive working environment for civil servants, we undertook the construction of office complex for five key reform agencies; Bureau on Public Procurement, Fiscal Responsibility Board, Ease of Doing Business.
” other were Yobe Agency for Public Private Partnership and Investment Promotion and State Bureau of Statistics. Construction of Office Complex for Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Store and Office for Pensions Department OHoS, Yobe Agency for the Control of AIDs (YOSACA),” the SSG listed.
He further explained that renovations were undertaken for Teaching Service Board, Civil Service Commission, Yobe Printing Corporation, procurement of office furniture and equipment for Civil Service Commission and Ministry of Livestock Development.
