The Yobe State Government has dismissed a viral message claiming Boko Haram terrorists were advancing towards Damaturu, labeling it as fake news designed to spread fear among residents.

In a press statement released by the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Executive Governor, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), the government made it clear that the so-called “Immediate Security Alert” circulating on social media never originated from any official source.

Describing the information as the handiwork of mischief makers, General Abdulsalam urged the public to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear, stressing that there is no credible threat to the capital city.
