In a bold push to transform its education sector, the Yobe State Government has dispatched 237 teachers and school principals to Kaduna for intensive capacity-building training aimed at raising teaching standards and strengthening school leadership.
The Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu, made the disclosure during a send-off ceremony at the Governor’s Office in Damaturu, describing the initiative as a strategic move to close manpower gaps and boost service delivery across schools in the state.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office and Overseas Manpower Development, Shuaibu Ibrahim Amshi, Shehu said the programme reflects the government’s determination to reposition education through targeted reforms.
The delegation comprises 158 teachers and mentors alongside 79 senior secondary school principals drawn from key agencies, including the State Universal Basic Education Board, Teaching Service Board, and Science and Technical Education Board.
He commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his sustained commitment to revitalising education, noting that the administration’s declaration of a state of emergency in the sector is already delivering results, including improved student performance and growing recognition.
Speaking further, the Focal Person on Training and Succession Planning, Ibrahim Bulama Yusuf, emphasised that modern teaching methods and effective school leadership are critical to achieving quality learning outcomes.
He revealed that the training, to be held at the National Teachers’ Institute in Kaduna, will expose participants to advanced pedagogy, innovation, and technology-driven teaching approaches in line with the National Policy on Education.
Participants were urged to uphold discipline and professionalism throughout the programme and return as change agents, equipped to transfer knowledge, inspire colleagues, and elevate education standards across Yobe State.
