Yobe 34th Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competitions Kicks-off In Gashua

The Yobe State Arabic and Islamic Education Board has flagged off the commencement of the 34th Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competitions in Gashu’a, the headquarters of Bade local government area.

The week long event is taking place at two of the lecture theaters Umar Suleiman College of Education Gashu’a for both male and female categories.

Speaking at the opening ceremony the Executive Secretary Arabic and Islamic Education Board, Mallam Umar Abubakar, said the hosting of the event by Yobe State government clearly indicated the commitments of the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni towards promoting both western and Islamic Education in the state.

The ES represented by the Co-ordinator State Tsangaya Mallam Usman Lawan said the competition  would not only promote search for knowledge but instil good behaviour in the minds of the youths and improve social coshesion among the people of the state.

A total of 136 participants comprising male and females were drawn from the 17 local Government of the state have so far been registered for both male and female categories of the competition.

The event is expected to end on the 19, October,2024.
