Nigeria’s Humanitarian Crisis: A Call to Strengthen Child-Centered Responses and Build Resilient Communities
On World Humanitarian Day 2024, SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria is calling for urgent and bold actions to address the severe humanitarian challenges facing Nigerian children. The organization highlights the dire situation, with millions of children affected by conflicts, displacement, food insecurity, and natural disasters. Despite ongoing efforts, these crises continue to worsen, with 17 million undernourished children and 20 million out of school.
Rhoda Daniel Ocheche, Head of Brand and Communication at SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria, emphasizes the need for enhanced support to improve living conditions and protect these vulnerable children. The organization urges the government and NGOs to invest in child-centered programs, ensure accountability, and strengthen partnerships to create sustainable solutions.
