The Yobe State Police Command, in line with resolutions reached at the State Security Council meeting held on 18th February, 2026, has put in place comprehensive security measures across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Ramadan fasting period.
This is contained in a statement by the Yobe State Police Command spoke Person, SP Dungus Abdulkarim.
He said :
These measures include enhanced surveillance, intensified patrols, and effective deployment of personnel within the Areas of Responsibility of all Area Commands, Divisional Police Headquarters, and Tactical Units. This is aimed at ensuring prompt response to distress calls and the prevention of criminal activities throughout the fasting period.
The Command, in synergy with sister security agencies, is working collaboratively to secure all strategic locations, including prayer grounds and other public places of gathering, while also complementing the efforts of vigilante groups and neighbourhood watch associations.
While wishing the Muslim Ummah a peaceful and rewarding Ramadan, the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security formation for immediate response. Muslim faithful are also advised to take personal security precautions at prayer grounds to prevent minor offences such as theft of shoes, bicycles, motorcycles, and other valuables.
Residents are further encouraged to properly secure their homes before leaving for prayers.
The Command reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and security of lives and property across the state.
