The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four Liberian nationals over an alleged visa fraud operation uncovered in the Ikorodu axis of Lagos.
Security sources said trouble started around 3:30 p.m. on January 20, when police received a distress report of a heated dispute involving foreign nationals at their base in the Mowonla area of Ikorodu.
“Based on the report, a team of police personnel was immediately mobilised to the scene. On arrival, four Liberian nationals were arrested and brought to the station for investigation,” a source disclosed.
The suspects were identified as Rebecca Mollie (30), Joseph Brisbane (45), Bility Famba (35), and Reina Kartec (24).
During interrogation, Mollie alleged that she was lured from Liberia to Nigeria in August 2025 by a fellow Liberian, Patrick Charman (47), who claimed he was based in Australia and could facilitate her onward travel.
According to her account, Charman allegedly collected $1,500 for visa arrangements. Upon arrival in Nigeria, Mollie said she was received by another Liberian national, Naomi Koso (36), who reportedly demanded an additional $1,290 to “complete” the processing.
“The complainant later realised she had been defrauded and demanded a refund to enable her return to Liberia,” the source added.
Police confirmed that the four suspects are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to track down the two other suspects said to be at large.
Investigations into the alleged international visa scam are ongoing.
