The Governing Council of the University of Maiduguri have expressed gratitude to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for the huge investment he has made in the education sector in Borno State.

The chairman of the Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor of the University, Dr Yunusa Adamu Dan Gwani, made the commendation on Monday in Maiduguri.

He said, “We are here not only to pay a courtesy call to you, but to thank you and the Borno State Government for all you have been doing for the university and the education sector in general.”

He added, “We are not surprised; we went round the city and we have seen what you have been doing for the education sector. Not only that, but I believe each Nigerian will bear witness to what you have been doing in the education sector.”

Meanwhile, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum reassured the members of the visiting Governing Council of the university of Maiduguri of his support towards the regaining of the university’s lost glory of academic excellence.

“I believe all of us are stakeholders in this university, and my main objective is to ensure that the University of Maiduguri regains its lost glory in terms of academic excellence. I will support all initiatives from the Governing Council that will ensure the growth and development of the University,” Zulum said.

Zulum also restated the commitment of Borno State Government to partner with the University of Maiduguri in areas of research and development to promote security and agricultural advancement.

Governor Zulum equally noted that with over 70,000 square kilometres of land mass, Borno can contribute to Nigeria’s need for food production.
