UNICEF Enrolls Nearly 37,000 Learners in Borno State Through Digital Learning Platform

In a significant development, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund UNICEF has successfully enrolled 36,995 learners in Borno state for the Nigeria Learning Passport, a digital learning platform.

This milestone was shared by UNICEF Education Manager, Caroline Waruguru, during a quiz competition event held for schools in the state on the 2/11/2024

Caroline Waruguru emphasized the impact of the Nigeria Learning Passport (NLP) as a digital platform offering free access to educational content aligned with the national curriculum.

The NLP has been implemented in 18 states, benefiting over 290,000 users, including 190,000 students. Additionally, the platform aims to enhance teachers’ professional development in digital literacy and pedagogical skills.

Grateful for the support received, UNICEF acknowledged partners and donors for providing essential resources like tablets, routers, and projectors to schools utilizing the NLP. Efforts are ongoing to train partners on effectively leveraging the digital platform for educational initiatives.

During a recent competition among schools in Borno, Maiduguri Capital School, Barai’imul Imam, and Elkenemi College of Islamic Theology emerged victorious in various categories.

Dominion Dauda Dawa, a student from Maiduguri Capital School who excelled in the senior category, commended UNICEF for the opportunities presented and vowed to share insights about the NLP with peers.

The event underscored the significance of digital learning in advancing education and empowering students for a brighter future.
