UN Children Education Fund (UNICEF) has emphasized the importance of increased access to quality education, especially for marginalized communities in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
The UNICEF Education Specialist, Mr Francis Elisha, made the call at a two-day consultation meeting was held in Sokoto.
Elisha said the meeting was aimed at
bringing together key education stakeholders from Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi states to review progress, identify challenges, and chart a course for improving education outcomes in the region.
He said the event was organized by the State Universal Basic Education Board aimed to foster collaboration and align efforts towards achieving common education goals.
He added that the consultation provided an opportunity for stakeholders to review the 2023-2024 program implementation, establishing shared priorities, and developing a comprehensive workplan for the 2025-2027 period activities and programs.
The Specialist highlighted the importance of the meeting, emphasizing the need for a collective approach to address the multifaceted challenges facing education in the region.
Elisha also added that the meeting provides a platform for open dialogue, knowledge sharing, and strategic planning.
Newsmen reports that the the event had resulted of the consultation, a detailed action plan was developed to ensure the monitoring, scalability, and sustainability of education projects in the region.
The participants outlines specific strategies and timelines for implementation, with a focus on empowering communities and improving learning outcomes.
Participants from various education sectors, including government officials and education experts, shared insights and experiences during the event, as it underscored the significance of the consultation in shaping the future of education.
A Cross section of participants discussed diverse stakeholders and thanked UNICEF for more coordinated and impactful approaches to education in Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi States.
