Umaru Musa Yar’adua University UMYU Katsina, has concluded arrangements to host its 14th Convocation Ceremony for the award of degrees and diplomas and the conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees on distinguished personalities.
The main ceremony will hold on Saturday 7th February 2026, at the University Convocation Arena by 9:00am and is expected to attract government officials, academics, parents, guardians, alumni and other stakeholders in the education sector.
Ahead of the event, the university will organise a Pre-Convocation Lecture on Friday 6th February 2026, at the University Auditorium. The lecture, titled “Law and Its Significance in Combating Terrorism, Kidnapping and Other Antisocial Activities in the North: A Key Review of Katsina State” will be delivered by Justice Amiru Sanusi, OFR, JSC (RTB).The lecture is expected to provide critical insight into the role of law, justice and institutional frameworks in addressing security challenges in Northern Nigeria, with particular focus on Katsina State.
According to the university, the convocation ceremony will formally graduate students from various faculties and programmes while celebrating excellence, leadership and service through the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees.
Those to be honoured include the Executive Governor of Katsina State and Visitor to the University Dikko Umaru Radda Ph.D, Amb. Ahmad Rufai Abubakar CFR the Sardaunan Katsina and Amb. Ali Bin Ghanem Al-Hajri, former Qatar Ambassador to Nigeria.
In a special posthumous recognition, the late Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, will also receive an honorary doctorate in appreciation of his enduring contributions to national development.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Shehu Salihu Muhammad, will host the ceremony and lead the academic procession.
The management of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University has invited parents, guardians, alumni and members of the public to attend both the pre-convocation lecture and the main convocation ceremony as the institution celebrates academic excellence and societal impact.
