Uba Sani at Kurmin Wali: ‘We’ll Bring Them Home’

Borno State Government

Governor Uba Sani on Wednesday took his message of reassurance directly to Kurmin Wali village in Kajuru Local Government Area, the scene of a recent bandit attack, vowing that his administration would secure the release of all abducted residents and restore lasting peace.

Visiting the community alongside security chiefs and journalists, the governor acknowledged the January 18 attack on three churches in the village, describing it as painful, disturbing and unacceptable. He commiserated with victims and their families, assuring them that the state government was intensifying efforts to end the cycle of violence.

“We will not abandon Kurmin Wali. We are working closely with the military and all security stakeholders to ensure that every abducted person is safely returned,” Sani declared.

In a direct appeal for federal backing, the governor called on the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, a native of Kaduna State, to support the establishment of a military base in the area to strengthen security and deter criminal gangs.

Beyond security, Sani announced a package of development measures aimed at restoring confidence and improving livelihoods. These include the construction of an access road to Kurmin Wali, the establishment of a Primary Health Care centre, and the provision of other basic social amenities to deepen government presence in the community.

Addressing local and international journalists who accompanied him, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to protect lives and property across Kaduna State, stressing that no community would be left at the mercy of bandits.

Residents of Kurmin Wali welcomed the governor’s visit, describing it as a morale booster, and pledged their cooperation with government and security agencies to help secure the release of the captives and sustain peace in the area.
