A clash between youths and a Nigeria Customs Service NCS patrol team in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State has left two individuals injured after security operatives opened fire to disperse a mob.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Friday when a customs patrol team intercepted a vehicle smuggling fuel toward Cameroon at Wuro Manu Malabu.
While returning from the operation, a group of youths at Kilange Village blocked the road in an attempt to free the seized vehicle.
In the ensuing confrontation, customs operatives fired warning shots, but stray bullets hit two individuals Abdulkarim Maikanti, 30, and Yauba Babai, 25 both residents of Cameroon. The victims were rushed to Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, for medical attention.
Authorities have since visited the scene, and efforts are underway to convene a stakeholders’ meeting to caution local youths against obstructing law enforcement operations.
