Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has opened up about a shocking encounter with Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, accusing him of disrespect and threats during a past bus journey.
Speaking during a BBC programme, Tuggar alleged that the governor insulted his father, who died over 20 years ago, and even threatened to slap him.
“He insulted my late father who died more than 20 years ago, and he stood up and said he would slap me,” Tuggar said. “If they allow us, he can’t even try to slap or fight me.”
The minister’s revelation has sparked reactions across political circles, raising eyebrows over the nature of the long-standing tension between the two northern leaders.
While Governor Bala Mohammed is yet to respond, the public is calling for maturity and mutual respect among high-ranking officials, especially amid growing national challenges.
