Relief has swept through Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State after Nigerian troops eliminated “Al’jan,” a notorious bandit who terrorized the region for years.
“Al’jan,” originally from Niger Republic, settled in Tsafe as a motorcycle taxi operator, forging ties with Fulani herders before descending into a life of crime.
He became a trusted guide for the criminal network of Hassan Bamamu, orchestrating countless raids and kidnappings across the area.
Responsible for several high-profile killings, including those of Anas Umar Dan Kanti, Alhaji Musa Ille, and a Navy officer, “Al’jan” used his intimate knowledge of Tsafe to spread fear and violence, especially along the vulnerable Tsafe-Gusau road.
The end came three weeks ago during a meticulously planned joint operation by Nigerian troops and vigilantes in Mada and Yandoton Daji. The ambush neutralized “Al’jan” and several of his associates, marking a turning point in the fight against banditry in Zamfara State.
Residents of Bamamu village, his final hideout, confirmed his death after identifying his remains. The news has brought a sense of liberation to the community, restoring hope to those who had endured years of violence.
Security forces have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring lasting peace in the region, urging communities to remain vigilant as efforts to root out remaining criminal elements continue.
