Troops of the Nigerian Army have dealt a heavy blow to criminal elements operating in Kogi State, overrunning a suspected terrorist camp deep inside a forest and recovering a cache of weapons and ammunition.
The Army, in a statement posted on its official X handle on Wednesday, disclosed that the raid was executed under the ongoing Operation IGBO IDANU I.
According to the statement, the operation delivered “a decisive strategic blow to a notorious terrorist network linked to Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu in Kogi State.”
Military sources said the troops advanced into the forest hideout following credible intelligence, engaging and dislodging the suspected terrorists from their base.
During the clearance operation, soldiers reportedly recovered assorted arms and ammunition believed to have been used in previous attacks within the region.
The exact number and type of weapons were not immediately disclosed, but officials described the seizure as significant.
Security analysts say the successful raid underscores renewed military pressure on armed groups attempting to establish operational bases in forested areas across North Central Nigeria.
