In a swift and coordinated operation, security forces have rescued seven passengers abducted by suspected bandits along the Kaura Namoda–Shinkafi highway in Zamfara State.
The victims—four men and three women—were taken hostage on June 13 when armed assailants ambushed commercial vehicles near Kwanar Boko in Moriki district, Zurmi LGA. The brazen attack occurred around 6 p.m., triggering panic across the area.
According to reliable sources from Zagazola Makama, security personnel launched an immediate search-and-rescue operation upon receiving the distress alert. Their efforts paid off as the troops successfully located and freed seven captives unharmed.
The rescued individuals have since been debriefed at the Moriki Police Station and reunited with their families. Security forces are intensifying efforts to locate and rescue others believed to still be in captivity.
Authorities have vowed to continue the manhunt until all victims are safely returned and the perpetrators brought to justice.
