Troops Repel Midnight Terror Attack in Borno, Commander Among Fallen Heroes

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed that gallant troops of Operation Hadin Kai foiled a deadly midnight assault on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State, forcing insurgents to retreat after fierce.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Michael Onoja, disclosed that the terrorists launched a coordinated attack around 12:30 a.m., targeting the Headquarters of the 29 Task Force Brigade.

He said troops, led by Brigade Commander Oseni Braimah, responded with superior firepower and tactical precision, repelling the and thwarting their attempt to breach the base.

The DHQ described the failed assault as a sign of desperation by insurgents under sustained military pressure in the North-East theatre.

However, the encounter came at a heavy cost, as some soldiers paid the supreme price, including Brig.-Gen. Braimah, whose sacrifice has been hailed as heroic by the military high command.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, paid tribute to the fallen troops, praising their courage and unwavering commitment to national security.

While urging the public to ignore unverified reports, the military assured that clearance operations are ongoing to hunt down fleeing insurgents and prevent regrouping.

The Armed Forces reaffirmed their resolve to defeat terrorism and restore lasting peace across the North-East.
