In a major breakthrough against banditry in Katsina State, Nigerian Army troops have stormed the hideouts of a notorious kingpin, Kachalla Muritala, rescuing a woman abducted over two months ago.
The daring operation, carried out early Saturday morning in Machika and Dankolo villages of Sabuwa LGA, saw troops engage the terrorists in a fierce gunfight, forcing them to flee into nearby mountains.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that three bandits were neutralised during the assault, with no military casualties reported.
The troops destroyed the camps, motorcycles, livestock, and key supplies to prevent the criminals from regrouping. Further advances in the Maigora axis led to the recovery of additional motorcycles.
In a heartwarming turn of events, 40-year-old Mrs. Suliat Adam—who was abducted on the Funtua–Zaria highway 70 days ago—escaped her captors following a previous military strike on May 20 and was safely reunited with her family.
The operation marks another victory in the Nigerian Army’s intensified offensive to dismantle terrorist enclaves across the North-West.
