In a decisive and fierce battle, Nigerian troops have successfully neutralized the notorious bandit leader Buharin Yadi, bringing an end to his reign of terror in Northern Nigeria.
The operation, carried out by Sector 6 Operation Whirl Punch under the command of Major General MLD Saraso, targeted the terrorist and his cohorts in the Idasu forest, straddling the border between Kaduna and Katsina States.
Intelligence reports had traced the movements of Buharin Yadi, also known as Buhari Alhaji Halidu, and his band of criminals from Samunaka in Katsina State.
The troops, acting on this intelligence, launched a covert operation, uncovering the aftermath of recent bandit attacks in Samunaka.
The ensuing confrontation at Hayin Almajiri resulted in a fierce battle, with artillery fire decimating the bandit forces.
Initial assessments confirm that at least 36 bandits were eliminated, including the notorious Buharin Yadi.Buharin Yadi’s demise marks the culmination of a five-year manhunt.
Known for large-scale cattle rustling, arms trading, and drug trafficking, Yadi led his gang in devastating attacks across Kaduna, Katsina, Niger, and Zamfara States.
His death has sparked widespread relief and celebrations among the affected communities.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, hailed the operation as a testament to the bravery and efficiency of the Nigerian troops.
He commended Major General Saraso for his leadership and pledged continued support for security forces in the state.
