In a decisive blow against crime, troops of Operation Enduring Peace have arrested a notorious criminal long accused of terrorizing residents of Vatt Community in Jos East.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was carried out at about 4:10 p.m. on March 24, when troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, working closely with vigilant local residents, tracked and apprehended the suspect, identified as Suleiman Mohammed.
The 40-year-old suspect was arrested in Lamingo area after weeks of heightened tension in the community, where his activities allegedly instilled fear among residents.
Following his capture, Mohammed was promptly handed over to the Keystone Maijuju Division for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.
Residents of Vatt Community have since expressed relief over the arrest, describing it as a major breakthrough in restoring peace to the area.
Military authorities said the operation underscores the sustained efforts of security forces to clamp down on criminal elements and safeguard lives and property across Plateau State.
They further reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration with local communities, noting that timely intelligence and cooperation remain critical in the ongoing fight against insecurity.
The arrest is part of a broader security push under Operation Enduring Peace aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring lasting stability in Plateau and its environs.
