Troops Foil Bandit Attack in Malumfashi, Katsina

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, in a combined effort with the police and local vigilante, have foiled a bandit attack in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to security sources, the incident occurred on August 16, 2025, at about 9:45 p.m., when a distress call reported that armed bandits were advancing towards Ruwan Sanyi and Unguwar Makera villages.

Swiftly mobilizing, the joint security team engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat and aborting their plans to kidnap villagers and rustle livestock.

During the confrontation, two residents, Muhammad Inuwa and Babale Abdulkarim, sustained gunshot injuries on their legs. They were rushed to Malumfashi General Hospital, where medical officials confirmed that both victims are responding well to treatment.

Security forces have since intensified patrols, extending their operations to the Garin Gafa area of Kafur in pursuit of the fleeing bandits.

The successful operation underscores the determination of security agencies to curb banditry and protect rural communities in Katsina State.
