Troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade (SAB) under Operation Hadin Kai have recorded another battlefield success after exploiting an airstrike location at Chonogolo Kura in Borno State, neutralising a terrorist and destroying multiple hideouts and logistics structures.
Zagazola Makama reports that the ground operation followed a precision airstrike carried out at about 10:40 a.m. on February 3, targeting terrorist enclaves concealed within the rugged terrain of Chonogolo Kura.
Military sources disclosed that at about 12:45 p.m. the same day, troops of 21 SAB advanced to the location to conduct a detailed Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) and evaluate the impact of the strike.
“Upon arrival, troops observed that the general area of Chonogolo Kura, which previously housed several newly established terrorist enclaves, had been severely degraded,” the sources said.
They added that the effect of the airstrike was significant, leading to the neutralisation of one terrorist, while several hideouts and logistics facilities were destroyed in the process.
According to the sources, remnants of the terrorist elements fled in disarray, escaping in different directions as troops closed in on the objective, abandoning their positions and supplies.
The successful exploitation underscores the sustained synergy between air and ground forces under Operation Hadin Kai, as troops continue to deny terrorists freedom of movement, dismantle their infrastructure, and tighten the noose around fleeing elements in the North-East theatre.
Security analysts say the operation further demonstrates the military’s resolve to maintain relentless pressure on insurgent groups and ensure lasting peace and stability across Borno State and the wider region.
