KATSINA – In a decisive counterterrorism operation, troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have gunned down two notorious bandit leaders, Yusuf Gwamna and Malam Ashiru, in an ambush in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The high-stakes operation, executed late Friday night, was a coordinated assault by the Military, Police, and other security agencies acting on credible intelligence. Security forces strategically engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle, neutralizing several bandits.
A security source confirmed to Zagazola Makama that the slain kingpins were masterminds behind deadly attacks, kidnappings, cattle rustling, and armed robberies terrorizing Dutsin-Ma, Danmusa, and Matazu LGAs.
“These bandits had been on our watchlist for a long time. Their elimination is a significant blow to the criminal networks operating in Katsina State,” the source stated.
Security forces have intensified clearance operations in the region, hunting down fleeing bandits and reinforcing security in local communities.
