In a major breakthrough for security forces in Katsina State, troops of Operation Fansan Yanma have neutralized a notorious bandit kingpin known as “Malam” and four of his fighters in a fierce offensive along the Kandamba-Faskari axis.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation, part of a sustained weeklong offensive, forced the terrorists to hastily bury their dead in shallow graves and flee with several wounded comrades.
Following intensified pursuit, troops discovered the graves and confirmed the identities of the five slain terrorists, including Malam—one of the most wanted criminal masterminds behind years of bloodshed in Sabuwa, Dandume, Funtua, and Faskari LGAs.
Malam’s reign of terror included brutal kidnappings, cattle rustling, and relentless attacks on rural communities. His elimination marks a significant win for the ongoing counter-banditry operations across Katsina State.
The military operation remains active as troops continue to sweep the area in search of fleeing gang members.
