The Nigerian Army has recorded major victories in the ongoing fight against terrorism, as troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) neutralised several terrorists and secured key locations across Borno and Adamawa States between October 25 and 31, 2025.
In a statement released by the Army, the troops thwarted multiple coordinated attacks, including an attempted suicide bombing in Kukawa, an ambush in the Gwoza–Limankara axis, and the interception of terrorist logistics in Adamawa.
On October 25, terrorists attempted to storm Kukawa Town using a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), but troops engaged the vehicle with RPGs and a T-55 tank, neutralising it before it could detonate. The attackers fled under heavy fire, with only a 10-year-old civilian sustaining minor injuries.
In another operation, troops working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) discovered and safely disposed of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Dikwa–Ajiri axis, preventing sabotage on major supply routes.
By October 29, troops of 192 Battalion (Main), in collaboration with the CJTF, ambushed terrorists around the Mandara Mountains, killing two and recovering items confirming their continued reliance on bicycles and food caches.
A night ambush on October 30 by 202 Battalion and Volunteer Force operatives along the Bama–Konduga route also foiled insurgents attempting to cross from the Gezuwa axis into Sambisa Forest, forcing them to flee in disarray.
Meanwhile, under Operation Strangulation, troops of 232 Battalion (Tactical) intercepted smugglers transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) using two motorcycles in Mubi South, Adamawa State. The suspects fled, abandoning the items.
In a cordon and search mission on October 30, troops of 144 Battalion, Sector 4 Special Forces, and local hunters arrested five suspected terrorists attempting to infiltrate Sabon Gari, Madagali. Items recovered included a desert camouflage uniform, ammunition, and 50 wraps of Indian hemp.
The Air Component Command of OPHK provided critical support through precision air strikes and intelligence surveillance, enabling ground troops to conduct successful follow-up operations.
A subsequent sweep towards Sambisa Forest on October 31 led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, 98 rounds of ammunition, and four bicycles, with no casualties recorded among troops.
The Army reaffirmed its resolve to sustain aggressive operations until peace is fully restored in the region.
