— Operation Lafiya Nakowa Intensifies Across Takum and Ussa
Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have recorded major success in their ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa aimed at flushing out bandits and other criminal elements across Taraba State.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched simultaneous clearance operations on Saturday, October 5, 2025, targeting bandits’ hideouts in Tarhembe, Tornyi, TY Farm, and Kando in Takum Local Government Area, as well as parts of Ussa LGA, following reports of farmland destruction by criminal gangs.
During the offensive, Team A engaged the bandits in Tarhembe and Tornyi. Overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower, the criminals fled into the forest, abandoning their weapons and supplies. Items recovered from the scene include:
4 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition,1 AK-47 magazine,1 motorcycle
Meanwhile, Team B simultaneously swept through Lissam, Kutukok, Konkan, Fank Utaih, Kijwu, Kutukwo, Kwesati, and Alaha in Ussa LGA, where several bandits’ camps were destroyed, denying the criminals safe haven and operational bases.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops’ professionalism and determination, noting that the operation had further disrupted bandit movements and reinforced security confidence in affected communities.
He also called on residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid the ongoing counter-banditry efforts, assuring the public of the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across Taraba State.
