Nigerian troops have neutralized at least 37 bandits and inflicted severe injuries on many others in a clearance offensive in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to intelligence sources, the operation, conducted on March 10, 2025, was a coordinated assault by ground forces with aerial support from the Air Component of Operation FANSAR YAMMA, targeting terrorist hideouts in the region.
Military insiders revealed that around 11:00 a.m., a fighter jet on reconnaissance detected a large group of heavily armed bandits preparing to ambush advancing troops. Without hesitation, the jet launched a devastating airstrike, scattering the insurgents and leaving many dead. Ground forces swiftly moved in, eliminating those attempting to flee.
“I can confirm that 37 bodies were seen scattered all over, while several others escaped with life-threatening injuries,” a security source disclosed.
Troops are currently tracking wounded fighters who fled into the forest, ensuring no escape for the remnants of the terror network.
This latest success underscores the military’s relentless crackdown on banditry in Zamfara, reaffirming its commitment to restoring peace in the region.
