Troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Chabbal under Operation HADIN KAI have intercepted a vehicle allegedly conveying logistics for terrorists along the strategic Maiduguri–Gubio road in Borno State.
Security sources disclosed that the interception occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on February 26 during routine checkpoint and stop-and-search operations along the busy supply corridor linking Maiduguri to northern parts of the state.
The troops reportedly flagged down a Toyota pickup truck and, upon thorough inspection, uncovered items suspected to be linked to the logistics network of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
Recovered from the vehicle were large textile fabrics believed to be used by insurgents, 20 Hilux tyre tubes, motorcycle spare parts, 10 cutlasses, and three mobile phones. The items were cleverly concealed beneath planks in the truck, while the tyres were also suspected to be intended for terrorist mobility operations.
Three male occupants of the vehicle were immediately arrested. The suspects and the recovered exhibits were subsequently handed over to the 7 Mechanised Infantry Brigade for detailed investigation and intelligence exploitation.
Military sources noted that the operation forms part of intensified efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to dismantle ISWAP’s supply chains, choke off its logistics corridors, and degrade terrorist capabilities across the North East theatre.
The Maiduguri–Gubio axis remains a critical route for both civilian and military movements, making sustained security operations along the corridor vital to ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.
