PLATEAU — In a series of high-impact operations, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN OPSH have dealt a major blow to terrorist and criminal elements across Plateau State, arresting two ISWAP operatives, neutralizing a bandit, and recovering deadly weapons.
On April 11, 2025, troops of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Shendam stormed an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) cell in Yelwa, Shendam LGA, arresting two suspects — Abdulkadir Dalhatu and Ubaidu Hassan, both 25 — who were masquerading as tailors. Investigations revealed the duo were on a mission to establish ISWAP sleeper cells in Plateau and Bauchi States under orders from their commander.
That same day, troops from Sector 4 OPSH raided the hideout of a wanted criminal in Mazat Village, Barkin Ladi LGA. Although the suspect fled before their arrival, troops recovered an AK-47 rifle and magazine buried within the building.
Continuing their offensive, troops from Sector 2 OPSH laid an ambush on April 12 along the Pinau–Bangalala road in Wase LGA, where they engaged bandits in a firefight, neutralizing one while others escaped with possible injuries. A locally fabricated pistol was recovered at the scene.
Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, OPSH Media Officer, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to securing communities and called for more credible intelligence from locals to sustain momentum against criminal elements.
