In a swift and successful ambush, troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, neutralised a suspected bandit and recovered an AK-47 rifle and a stolen motorcycle during a special operation in Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation, carried out under Operation Lafiyan Jama’a, was based on credible intelligence indicating suspicious bandit movements around the Fikyu axis. According to intelligence sources, troops launched the ambush around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday near Gafar village.
“At about 032100A May 25, our troops sighted the suspects advancing towards Gafar, likely with plans to launch an attack,” one source told Zagazola Makama. “The troops swiftly opened fire, neutralising one of the bandits while the others escaped into the bush.”
Following the encounter, soldiers swept the area, recovering an AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle reportedly stolen from a local resident. The recovered items are now in military custody for further investigation.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to rooting out criminal elements and maintaining security across Taraba State and beyond.
