Transformation of Lands Administration in Katsina State

Katsina State Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning which is hitherto called Ministry of Lands and Survey has witnessed various transformations under the present administration of Malam Dikko Radda CON.

In the first place, the administration changed the name of the Ministry to pave way for implementation of new models of Lands Administration and allow more synergy between the Lands and Lands use Planning.

Generally, the government has implemented contemporary technology-driven innovations in the State Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning to ensure effective service delivery on land resources management.

These initiatives are designed to enhance accessibility to land and improve land use Planning.

Being Ministry of Lands as custodian of all land resources in the State, the Ministry undertake the valuation of all lands being used in the all the developmental projects and infrastructural development in the State particularly the Urban Renewal Program of this administration.

In this regard, Katsina State government has so far spent Over Three point Six Billion Naira for the payment of compensation to various land owners across the State.

The government settled the long overdue compensation to those affected by the expansion of Ummaru Musa Yar’adua Airport, phase one and two.

Others include those affected by Charanchi Eastern By-pass and Katsina roads projects, Kofar Guga – Kofar Soro, Kofar Marusa – Barhim Junction, Kofar Sauri Junction – Yandaki Village, Kuraye – Radda road and Jabiri-Sokoto dualization road projects

The rest are the compensation for the constructions of Special Secondary Schools, Establishment of Federal University Funtua and College of Agriculture in Rigar Banje in Kafur Local government among others.

Also to complement the Urban Renewal Program of the Building your Future Policy of Malam Dikko Radda, the State government has spent over Two Hundred and Thirty Million Naira for the review of Katsina, Daura and Funtua Master Plan 2025 – 2040 ,in consideration of the growing population and to give a befitting facelift to the three mega cities, with the promise to do same across the State.

Considering the fact that, WHO fail to PLAN, PLAN to FAIL, Malam Dikko Radda administration in the first instance convened a stakeholders meeting where he read a riot act to those mis – using Planning laws of the State and pronounce his political will to support the execution of planning law properly in Katsina State.

In a bid to booster development control and ensure adherence to building and planning regulations in the State, the sum of Seven Hundred and Twenty Five Million Naira was spent for the purchase of earth moving vehicles.

Such Machineries are Pay Loader, Evacuators, Tippers, Hilux Vehicles, Load Bed, Utility Vehicles and Motorcycles for use by the State Urban and Regional Planning Board (URPB)

For the of the purpose of record, this Agency is need of these importance machineries, but couldn’t be possible until the tenure of Malam Dikko Radda.

Being efficient land management as very crucial for socio – economic growth, Dikko Radda administration has enacted a law that gave birth to Katsina State Geographic Information Service (KATGIS)

The establishment of this viable agency will enhance the management of land resources across the State, thereby reducing conflict between land owners and practice world wide modern land administration as well as enhancing IGR in the State.

To ensure the effective take – off of the newly established KATGIS for efficient service delivery to the people, government has incurred an expenditure of about Nine Hundred Million for it’s implementations.

To be very glad to know that, now KATGIS in Katsina State has become a model and one of the best in this region and the Nigeria at large, with the production of large number of Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) through the re- certification program and new applicants.

With these developments, Katsina State government is on road to achieve the world standard enabling environment for business and for people to build their future!!!!?
