A somber mood has enveloped Kings College, Lagos, following the unexpected death of a 48-year-old teacher, Mr. Ezekiel Akano, who was discovered lifeless in one of the school’s classrooms on Saturday evening.
According to police sources, the incident came to light when the Vice Principal, Mr. Oguniyi Ayodele, contacted the Lagos State Police Command around 7:40 p.m. after being alerted to Akano’s unresponsive state within the school premises at No. 3 Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island.
Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives was immediately deployed to the scene. The classroom was secured for a thorough examination. Photographs were taken and the body was closely inspected, but no signs of physical trauma were found.
Mr. Akano, who hailed from Oyo State, was swiftly transported to Lagos Island Hospital, Odan, where a medical expert officially confirmed his death upon arrival. His body was subsequently transferred to the hospital’s morgue for autopsy and preservation.
Police authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into the case, pledging to uncover the exact cause of death and urging the public to remain calm as the inquiry continues.
