The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has successfully rescued 150 passengers and recovered 42 bodies following a devastating boat mishap in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.
Boat, overloaded with about 300 people, capsized on October 1 while returning from a Maulud celebration.
Among the victims, 39 men, two women, and one child were found dead and buried according to Islamic rites.
Rescue efforts by NEMA, local divers, and community volunteers continue, as the search for more victims is still underway.
