A man identified as Adamu Sale lost his life on Sunday while trying to settle a farmland boundary disagreement between two communities in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The fatal incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the Gindin Kegh-Burgusi farmland axis, according to reports from local residents.
Sale, said to be representing the village head of Sarkin Kudu, stepped in to mediate a lingering land dispute involving a former traditional leader of Gindin Kegh, identified as Nandom Daniel.
Tragically, two unidentified assailants wearing masks reportedly emerged from the nearby bush and attacked Sale with deadly weapons, killing him instantly before fleeing the scene.
Security personnel have since visited the area and launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, who remain at large as of press time.
