The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Aliyu Sokoto (AAS), has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in Gidan Bisa and Runtuwa communities of Silame Local Government Area. An accidental misfire by the Nigerian Army claimed the lives of several innocent citizens and left others injured, casting a shadow of grief over the state.
In a heartfelt statement, the Governor extended condolences to the bereaved families, promising swift action and support. “This avoidable tragedy is heartbreaking. On behalf of the government and the people of Sokoto State, I send my heartfelt condolences to the families affected. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he said.
To alleviate the suffering of those affected, the Governor has pledged N20 million and 100 bags of assorted food items to the families of the deceased. The funds will also cover medical bills for the injured.
Governor Sokoto reassured the public of ongoing dialogue with the Nigerian Army to ensure a thorough investigation and prevent future occurrences. During his visit to the affected communities, he emphasized the importance of unity and called on residents to remain calm and pray for peace.
