A routine early morning at a neighbourhood snooker joint in Ombi 1 area of Lafia turned fatal after a disagreement reportedly escalated into violence, leaving one man dead.
The incident occurred in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, at about 6:00 a.m. on February 21, according to sources.
A resident, Akulu Sunday, reported to authorities that his tenant, identified as Precious Chinedu Madu, was allegedly struck with a stick during a misunderstanding with Ismail Abubakar, said to be the manager of the snooker facility.
The victim was rushed to a medical facility in Lafia for urgent treatment but was confirmed dead on arrival by a doctor.
Police authorities have since taken the suspect into custody as investigations continue to unravel the exact circumstances surrounding the altercation.
Security officials assured residents that further updates will be communicated as inquiries progress, while calm has reportedly returned to the area following the incident.
The tragic development has sparked concern among residents, with many calling for restraint and peaceful conflict resolution in community recreational centres.
