Steel meets soil in Dambatta as the ambitious Kano–Maradi–Dutse rail line project speeds ahead, marking a powerful symbol of continuity between administrations and a major leap toward regional integration.
Originally flagged off under former President Muhammadu Buhari as a strategic legacy infrastructure project, the rail line—now receiving unwavering support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration—is visibly progressing through key sections in Kano State, particularly around the bustling Dambatta axis.
Once completed, the cross-border rail corridor is expected to revolutionize transportation, slash logistics costs, generate thousands of jobs, and serve as a major artery for regional trade between Nigeria and Niger Republic. The rail line will also link economic hubs across Kano, Jigawa, and Maradi, strengthening historic and economic bonds between the neighboring nations.
A senior official from the Federal Ministry of Transportation praised the project’s momentum: “President Tinubu has not only inherited this vision—he’s accelerating it. This project is critical to our economic diversification goals and regional influence.”
Local residents and business leaders have expressed optimism, saying the rail line will breathe new life into agriculture, commerce, and industry across northern Nigeria.
With tracks being laid and machines humming through Dambatta, the message is clear: Nigeria is on the move—connecting communities, countries, and opportunities.
