The Executive Chairman of Toro Local Government, Pharmacist Ibrahim Abubakar Dembo says Toro Local Government area of Bauchi State is not only the largest Local Government area in Nigeria but the largest in West Africa. The Chairman was briefing the Bauchi Commissioner of Information and Communication Alhaji Usman Shehu Usman along with Journalists who were in Toro to verify the extent of rural transformation, and projects excuted by the Administration of Governor Bala Muhammad since he assumed office as the Governor. The Commissioner’s delegates which included
the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Comrade Muktar Gidado, senior officials, and media practitioners were taken round areas where laudable projects were carried out largely consisting of rural roads, Schools and Hospitals which were either constructed or re constructed to meet the yearnings of locals.
The purpose of the visit is primarily aimed showcasing government’s policy of promoting transparency, accountability, and public awareness on developmental initiatives. During the on the spot assessment of the projects,
the delegates took time off to visit and interact with District Heads of Toro, Lame, and Jama’a, who received them and commended the Governor’s developmental strides.
The traditional leaders pledged their continued cooperation to sustain peace and progress across the area.
The inspection covered key projects including Road Infrastructure: Rehabilitation and construction of township and inter-community roads such as Magama–Gumau, Rishi–Tulu, Geljaule–Lame, Rimin Zayam–Dass, and Nabordo township roads.
Healthcare Development: Upgrading of the General Hospital, Toro, and construction of a new General Hospital in Gumau, Renovation and expansion of primary and secondary schools and Rehabilitation of District Head palaces to strengthen grassroots governance and ongoing projects in water supply, rural electrification, and provision of social amenities.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Usman Shehu Usman, talking to Journalists and officials of the Local Government area visited says the inspection was in line with government’s policy to keep citizens informed about people-oriented projects.
He emphasized that the Governor remains committed to delivering the dividends of democracy across all local government areas.
The Executive Chairman of Toro Local Government, Pharmacist Ibrahim Abubakar Dembo in his response commended Governor Bala’s leadership qualities and express gratitude to the Governor for prioritizing Toro in the state’s development agenda. He promised that the projects would not only improve socio-economic wellbeing but also lay the foundation for sustainable growth. He urged the News makers to continue to highlight the Government’s achievement especially the projects being executed by Governor Bala Muhammad ‘Kauran Daular Usmaniyya.’
The Commissioner’s delegates will tour all the twenty Local Government Areas of the State to have a first hand information on the projects said to have been delivered.
