Abuja — President Bola Tinubu on Thursday administered the oath of office to former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, formally ushering him in as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence in a move widely seen as a strategic step to reinforce the nation’s security architecture.
The brief but significant ceremony, held at the State House, Abuja, was attended by top government officials, senior military officers, and members of the Federal Executive Council. President Tinubu charged the new minister to bring his depth of experience, discipline, and operational expertise to bear in tackling Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
General Musa, who previously served as Chief of Defence Staff and commanded counter-terrorism operations in the North-East, is widely regarded as a thoroughbred officer with a reputation for operational efficiency and professionalism. In his remarks after taking the oath of office, Musa expressed gratitude to the President for the confidence reposed in him and pledged unwavering commitment to national peace and security.
