In a high-powered display of infrastructure diplomacy, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday made his first-ever tour of the Dangote Refinery—Africa’s largest industrial complex—before proceeding to inaugurate key infrastructure projects that signal a new era of connectivity and economic expansion.
The President, who was received with a rousing welcome at the sprawling refinery site in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, lauded Aliko Dangote for his audacious investment and described the facility as “a national asset with continental significance.”
Shortly after the refinery tour, Tinubu commissioned a state-of-the-art concrete road at the Lekki Deep Sea Port, affirming his administration’s commitment to durable infrastructure that supports Nigeria’s growing maritime and trade potential.
Capping the day’s events, President Tinubu flagged off the second section of the Lagos-Calabar Superhighway—an ambitious coastal artery designed to span six states—and launched the construction of the 25-kilometre 7th Axial Road, expected to ease transport within Lagos and beyond.
“This is the future we promised,” Tinubu declared. “Today, we are laying the foundation for prosperity, one road, one refinery, and one port at a time.”
Observers say Thursday’s multi-site engagements underscore Tinubu’s vision of transforming Nigeria’s economic landscape through infrastructure, job creation, and regional integration.
